INDIA EMPLOYMENT VISA APPLICATION
WORK AUTHORISATION
- ALL Foreign nationals are required to apply for a work permit. The application is type that needs to be completed is an E-Type visa that has to be filed from outside of India
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
- Completed/signed visa application form
- Original Passport with at least 6 months validity remaining
- 2 passport size photographs
- Letter of invitation from the host company in India - letter needs to detail the duration of the assignment, job description, salary/benefits, accompanying family members etc.
- UK Employment contract - needs to be hand signed/dated by both parties
- UK Employer's letter detailing terms & conditions and
- Temporary assignment letter
INDIA BUSINESS VISA APPLICATION
EXEMPTIONS
- Indians that were previously Indian nationals but who have relinquished their Indian citizenship and now hold foreign passports. These people are exempt from requiring a visa if they have applied for 'Persons of India' or 'Overseas Citizens of India' status.
GENERAL VISA APPLICATON REQUIREMENTS
- All Non British foreign nationals requiring a visa issued from the UK to enter India must be able to show proof that they have been legally residing in the UK for at least 12 months.
SUPPORTING DOUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
- Completed/signed visa application form
- Original Passport with at least 6 months validity remaining
- 2 passport size photographs
- Letter of invitation from the host company in India - letter needs to outline purpose of trip, arrival/departure dates, accommodation etc.
- UK Employer's letter naming the applicant, the time served and position held within the company, the purpose and itinerary of the business trip
INDIA & GOA TOURIST VISIT VISA APPLICATION
EXEMPTIONS

Additional Requirements
- All Non British foreign nationals requiring a visa to be issued from the UK London Embassy to enter India must be able to show proof that they have been legally residing in the UK for at least 12 months. The Indian Embassy currently only accepts proof of UK residence by way of Utility bills or bank statements that were posted to the visa applicants home address 11 - 12 months prior to the application submission date. These original documents are returned upon initial assessment of the application.
- Currently, Applicants of Nigerian or Chinese descent are required to additionally supply a letter from their employer and their last three bank statements
- Applicants with media related occupations have to supply a letter of undertaking from their employer stating that they will not be conducting any work related activities while in India.
- Applicants applying for a conference visa must supply a formal letter of invitation from the conference promoter and letter (on letter headed paper) from their employer, addressed to the Indian High Commission London, corroborating the proposed trip.
DOCUMENT LEGALISATION / ATTESTATION
When travelling to India to work or study, you will often require certain documents to legalised or attested before you are permitted to reside there. The most common documents requiring legalisation are: marriage certificates; birth certificates; educational certificates and medical certificates - Companies intending to set up offices overseas usually require their Certificate of Incorporation to be legalised.
INDIAN NATIONALS TRAVELLING TO FRANCE
Married Indian nationals with marriage certificates issued in India are required by the French Embassy must to have their marriage certificates attested by the High Commission India. The High Commission issues the following document that has to be submitted to the French Embassy along with the original marriage certificate as part of a French Schengen visa application. > This applies to couples that are married to a UK passport holder.
